Present Study
B.Eng, Industrial Product Design
Design Engineer based in Rotterdam, with a background in high-end fashion and marketing. I am interested in products where design, materiality, engineering and brand identity come together. My work moves from research and sketching to concept development, CAD modelling, prototyping and visual communication. I consider manufacturability, production costs and commercial potential throughout the design process. I have learned to translate ideas into technically feasible product concepts while preserving their proportion, detail and overall look and feel. I approach design with close attention to users, ergonomics, materials, manufacturing methods and sustainability.
Understand the brief, brand identity and design challenge. Develop a framework and identify reference points, drawing on existing knowledge and experience.
Explore users, context, materials and existing products. Define clear design requirements and priorities. Identify relevant standards and regulations (ISO, NEN and ECE).
Generate ideas through sketches, mood boards and early concepts. Explore different design directions using a range of creative techniques.
Refine proportions, materials & construction for CAD modelling. Select design directions using a multi-criteria decision matrix, supported by compelling renders.
Consider feasibility, production costs and sustainability. Include material strength and geometrical calculations, finish preliminary 3d model.
Build and test mock-ups and prototypes to improve form, ergonomics, usability and assembly.
Prepare technical drawings, specifications and production files for suppliers and manufacturers.
Present the product through renders and a clear story. Prepare for production and advise the marketing team on strategy.
Review the process and collect user feedback to improve the product and inform future designs.
